It's a long way from Australia
It has been a day of relaxation & general catching up after the lo-o-ong flights from Australia.
I arrived Friday night after about 36 hours of travelling. The flights were uneventful - unlike 13 months ago on my way to Ushuaia - although London's Heathrow airport provided the "opportunity" for several laps of Terminal 2 during the 5 hours I was there.
The laps (approx 4 kms) were not intentional! The Singapore flight arrived at one end of the B gates at Terminal 2 - then with transfer/security processes, misinformation from various Heathrow staff, the Icelandair gate number not being posted until 40 mins before the flight & Icelandair people on the phone not knowing where their aircraft leaves from, I went to & fro from B to A to B to A to B, finally boarding the Icelandair 757 from the gate next door to the Singapore A380 that I'd flown in on! Three hours later and we landed in Reykjavik. Clear skies all the way, but sadly no northern lights.
Today I've been walking around Reykjavik, enjoying the sights, taking unremarkable photos (so far) and doing a little retail therapy. And catching up on some sleep.
The photo course starts Sunday evening, and we leave Reykjavik on Monday for areas along the southern coast of Iceland. Stay tuned for more posts from Iceland!
