Ah, now in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego
Ushuaia 54o48'S/068o18'W
We landed at 6:30am today following a gentle flight south, lots of napping as well as keeping an eye on sunrise. And it was spectacular! The sun was rising above a large bank of clouds, and the Beagle Channel was glorious to see as we descended towards Ushuaia - soft early morning light and beautiful cloud formations.
The little hotel that I'm in, Tierra de Leyendas, is very nice with glorious views of the Beagle Channel from my room - although I expect that all I'll see this evening is my dreams!
I arrived just in time for a delicious breakfast - then had a catch-up nap before going out to re-explore the town.
Today was a day for people watching, in particular "The Greater Turista Hominid." I think that any detailed observations are largely due to tiredness, so won't bore you with these!
Tomorrow I'm taking a 4 hour boat ride along areas of the Beagle Channel that I'll not see from our ship - that will also be a fun way to get some more practice with my newish Canon 6D. Then in the afternoon I'll change hotels ahead of boarding the Ocean Diamond on Friday afternoon.
In fact the next post is most likely to be from the Ocean Diamond on either Saturday or Sunday. We sail to the Falkland Islands on Friday, with the intention of our first landing being Sunday, I think.
