This morning was clear, with sun breaking through the clouds & it was time for some activity – after all, this place is all about the hiking. Not a strenuous or moderate hike, but a gentle Wonder Lake hike for me. Wonder Lake is quite large and about 3 miles south of us. There are many photos on display in the Roadhouse showing that on a good day you can see Mt Denali reflected in the water.

The Lakefront Anchorage is on the out-skirts of the city, overlooking Lake Hood, the world’s busiest aerodrome (that’s what they call it) for float planes. They have been taking off and landing most of the day, possibly reaching the average of 190 flights/day.
